VINYL; Vinyl flooring is an alternative to stone or tile. It is also one of the most affordable flooring solutions available.
Things to consider when choosing
Vinyl flooring is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), with various compounds added to tailor the material's characteristics such as color, flexibility, hardness and sheen. From a visual standpoint, vinyl flooring's edge over any other material is that it can be made to look like almost any other material. With proper surface preparation, it can be installed over any standard underlayment, concrete, old ceramic tile, wood or non-cushioned vinyl flooring. Stability and water resistance make vinyl a good choice for any room. Vinyl flooring is also very easy to maintain.
Suitable Applications:
For a more traditional feel darker woods work best while lighter tones create a modern, down to earth or relaxed feel.
Types of Vinyl
TILE - manufactured to exact dimensions and thickness to give the floor a uniformed appearance. These floors can resemble the look of ceramic tile or wood flooring.
SHEET - comes in 6' or 12' widths cut to measurements or in prepared rolls.
The great thing about sheet vinyl flooring is that it provides a relatively continuous covering without the gaping seams and natural absorbency of wood or the grout lines of ceramic tile. It's installation methods is similar to that of carpet.
INLAID VINYL - imbeds color granules into the vinyl sheet for a richer finish. Colors are an integral part of the floor.
PRINTED VINYL - is produced much like a magazine page. Colored inks are printed onto the flooring sheets. |
